There are many of you working at home who would have a much better chance at success in a more traditional work environment. If you've been at this for a few years, and still aren't making what you could be in a traditional office, or aren't as happy as you were working for someone else, then you need re-assess your career choice. You're shocked we're saying this? Don't be! Deciding to work from home isn't a guarantee of success although many websites lead you to believe it is! This industry requires long hours, hard work, a lot of dedication, and the ability to adapt on the fly. It's better to be happy and successful in a traditional setting if you are struggling to make ends meet working at home. I'm not telling you to just give up, but if you've given it a fair shot and still aren't doing too well then try another field. You may look back on this newsletter and thank me for this advice! FEATURED ARTICLE ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ All About Key Words- The How's And Why's By Shahnaz Rauf What are key words?- These are basically words that best describe your site and people use them to find you. Thus a site related to ebooks should be able to come up in searches for ebooks, e-books, electronic books etc. Here the trick is to carefully select 3-6 words that best describe your site and then optimize your site for these key words. The technique follows: 1. Select the right Key Words: Select the most obvious words people will use that best relate to your site; Always use the plural form of the word; Don't use internet related terms such as net, internet, web etc Thus you should use 'business' instead of 'internet business'. Also use multiple words. You may use the following facilities for keyword selection: http://www.goodkeywords.com/ http://www.wordtracker.com http://www.searchterms.com/ 2. Go to the link below and use your keywords to search. Take a close look at the sites that come up, do these match your business interest? Your competitors site must come up using these keywords. If not revise your key words. http://www.gogettem.com/ 3. Check your keyword popularity - How many searches are being made using this keyword? If not very popular revise. http://inventory.goto.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ 4. Make your text key word rich. a. Check your meta tags to see what improvement is needed. Use http://www.webmastermatrix.com/metacheck.html. b. Use meta tag generator to get the meta tag code with the right key words and insert it in to your page head. Here are two free meta tag generators. http://www.webmastermatrix.com/metagen.html http://www.site-see.com/ss/metaindex.htm c. Re-write your web text to include the keywords in the headings, links and all other text but don't overdo it or spam. Also please note that for submission to human moderated search engines like Yahoo meta tags should not be included. 5. Use this keyword analyzer to check keyword density - find out how 'Keyword rich' is your page: http://jimtools.com/keywordanalyzer/index.html 6. You are now ready to take on search engines and directories. 7. If you are interested in exploding your traffic through keyword bidding, you can find out exactly what your competitors are paying using: http://jimtools.com/gotocost/index.html ----------------------------------------------------------- Copyright [C] 2002 Shahnaz Rauf. Why not stick it to Microsoft and switch to the much more reliable, easier to use, service with 100,000,000+ more users than the MSN service .... I'm talking about ICQ. ICQ is the most popular instant messaging client in the world with well over 200,000,000 registered users. If you are doing any type of business online this software is a must have. My suggestion is to at least give it a try.... two hundred million users can't possibly be wrong. Download ICQ for free at http://www.icq.com WHAT ARE THEY THINKING ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I hear far too many stories of people spending their last dime on the latest marketing scheme or business opportunities that hit the market. I simply can't understand how people think they can make money in this business, or any business, when they don't have the money to put into it. It DOES take money to make money and it CAN'T all be done for free. Don't let yourself be naive enough, or get tricked into thinking anything different. As I'm sure you used to hearing me say, a home based business is very similar to a traditional business. Can you think of a traditional type of business that can run itself for free? Then why in the world does anyone think they can run a home based business for free? I will admit that you can save some big bucks by working at home, but you must have at least a nominal budget for your business if you want to be a success.
